This may be the first time since the outbreak that we truly feel like we can get away from it all, and that has surely inspired this year’s list of the finest Christmas vacation places.

We’ve spent hours collecting a star-studded line up of 15 beautiful places and their best lodgings that will give a lovely vacation from daily life during the time we need it most, whether you like sun or snow, a snug cottage or a trendy resort.

  • Woodstock, Vermont

Woodstock is a lovely ski community that was a passion project for Laurance Rockefeller, a businessman, philanthropist, and conservationist who helped rebuild the town after falling in love with it and becoming a citizen of Woodstock.

Small companies were brought to the deteriorating downtown area by Rockefeller and his wife, Mary French, who rebuilt the rows of buildings to their former beauty. Today, Woodstock is a popular New England destination and a perfect site to spend a comfortable vacation, either exploring the white-blanketed splendor for yourself or relaxing by the fireplace with a cup of coffee.

With a stay at Beaverbrook Estate, you can make the ancient town of Leatherhead at the base of the Surrey Hills your home base. The rich history of the 1866 home can be sensed across the 470-acre grounds.
